This was the initial concept sketch I made before drawing and coloring the reference image for my entry to the Piczel.tv mascot contest. Most of the colors were used for testing hair color, since the dark gray I originally wanted (similar to the current background color used on the website) was a bit too dark and high contrast for my tastes and made the "rainbow" highlights look a lot more gaudy than I wanted.

I think this looks a lot more organic than the reference image and is closer to the "spirit" of the character, what she might be like in a logo or piece of promo material or something.

P.S. Sorry for the logo on the headset being reversed! The canvas was flipped for a large portion of the design process and I wasn't sure on which orientation the image would eventually end up.... And, since this was only a concept doodle, it didn't seem critical to fix unless I got around to inking and coloring it >w>
