I want to set Piczel apart from the competition. A clean silhouette was a must so the design could further distinguish itself, even if you could only see the screen that's her face. Her screen needed to be the focus so I concentrated the saturated colors of the Piczel logo there and decided on muted tones for her body. The darker bezel around her screen face contrasts appropriately, and has some cohesion with the speaker on her cheek and handles on the side of her head. Taking inspiration from technology aesthetics that I appreciate, I wanted her to feel timeless but innovative at the same time. I felt for this character minimal but functional clothing was the most appealing only really meant to cover her soft bits, which were inspired by squishy buttons on a TV remote. I felt it was necessary to keep her hands soft and avoid the sharp, segmented, and uncomfortable look, so I made them the same material as her other soft bits. Comfort, simplicity, elegance and function, like a really good piece of technology!
