It's a warm and sunny day in Romeyette Park. Birds are chirping, kids are screaming with glee, and the sound of a worker selling 'New York' style hotdogs.
Some distance away sat Plasmite as he studied anatomy for his art class.
Lost in his studies, a familiar face stood tall in front him. "Hey! Whatcha doin' little dork?" said the elder boy known as Cye, a tall and athletic cyborg bat who towered over Plasmite.
"Oh, hey Cye, thought you had practice today?" said Plasmite, looking up to Cye. Cye shook his head with a calm confident smile, "Nah, coach said she's been pushing us too hard and told us it be 'better to have a proper breather.’ " Cye, despite being quite the athlete, was quite relieved. "Finally, I can be a lazy kid again, like you." Cye smirked.
"H-hey!" Plasmite groaned. Quickly after the pup would exclaim. "Drawing is a lot of work! Even if it is fun..." He pouts. Cye chuckles, "hey man, I’m just teasing. I know that stuff takes a lot of practice." He assured "Studying art is just like sports, if you don't learn it right then it all feels...off."
Just then, one of the most notorious gangs made their stroll through the park. Plasmite being oblivious had not yet noticed them. Cye however used all his strength to keep his cool. Not wanting to make eye contact, he kept a corner view of the gang, his fears silently washing over him. Throughout Cye's moments of terror, his step brother yammered on about his first few weeks in the city. "So, like I'm part of the anime/hentai club now." It would only dawn on the pup that he had no idea what anime or hentai was.
"Hey... what’s anime and hentai? " Looking up, Plasmite sees his step brother sitting still partially looking in the direction of the passing gang. "Big bro, you, okay?" he asked in a low, concerning tone. A moment after, Plasmite looks over to the cause of Cye's uneasiness, “Who are they?" he whispered. "Don't worry about it, just know they're bad news." Cye paused for a second, "especially the tall blue one, that's their leader. It would be wise to just keep out of their way… Well, them…and the lions." he continued on.
A genuine fear could be felt in Cye's voice. It was only a few years ago since he had moved here, but he had seen first-hand what could happen to victims in mere moments. "Just... Trust me... OK little bro? " Plasmite would nod, not entirely sure why his brother's calm joking attitude had become so serious. Plasmite tried his best to memorize the group's looks, but he couldn't shake the feeling that their leader was familiar to him.
"’Ey Boss, ain’t that the kid you been talkin' about?" asked Spike, a short male covered in body piercings. "Yeah, we could've pounced him just then. Shoot he was fuckin' cute and his tall bat friend if you ask me." said Shades, a tall gal with purple fur, complete with a cybernetic limb. "Ehh!? You boneheads!" exclaimed Oak, a short punk bunny with a whole lotta' attitude. “Can't you see the Boss is studying her prey?" Oak huffed. "He ain't like one of her usual playthings." Taking a drag of her vape pen.
As the three of them rambled on, Shindel, the Queen of this crew, came to speak and the others fell silent instantly as she started.
"Oak's right…" Shindel said, lighting her extremely large blunt. Her large frame expanded with every second she inhaled, soon followed by a relaxed exhale and a flurry of smoke clouds. "If he's anything like the kid he was all those years back, then a gentle approach would be wise.”
Flicking away the remains of the joint she had demolished, Shindel stops in her tracks to get one last look at the blue pup. "I know I'm normally not gentle with prey... Well at least not for long, but I've always considered him an exception." Moving along once more, Shindel and her crew would go about their business. Awaiting what the rest of the day (or night) might hold.
