I made Icetal in Vroid, modeled her horns in Blender before taking her into unity.
There is still work work to do .something is weird about her upper arms, she has various black portions on her shirt at various different angles I need to figure out why that is.
Still! I'm really happy with this work! I had a few constraints going into this:
I wanted to minimize the amount of work if I wanted to bring future OCs into VRChat. I wanted to use vectors for textures.Vectors for textures meant I can upscale infinitely with minimal modifications, it was also something I felt less comfortable with but I think it was the correct choice. They're also very, very easy to recolor and modify after the fact (even if they're a bit of a pain to make).
I saw a seifuku in Vroid and decided that seifukus would work well as a reusable garment, meaning I only really have to customize any arm accessories, socks and shoes that fit the OC.
The custom modeling was my first anything in blender, her horn is a mirrored curve with extruded radiuses, I then modified one side by pulling some polygons. Icetal's horns haven't been consistent throughout my various commissions, so I had a few false starts (i was trying to do a sharp bend on one side). I then realized I've actually drawn my OC before, instead of looking at commissions I looked at my own art. It was a lot easier to model her horns after that!
I feel like I have a lot to learn on unity shaders and the exact export process. I currently using the unity toon shader but I should probably look into some of the shaders the VRChat community seems to like (esp since the matcap I added to her horn didn't seem to show up in VRChat :/ )
